HELLBOY AND THE B.P.R.D.: 1953 #3 PAGE 15.
2016. Photoshop (#kylebrush), 4593 × 6600 px.

This page was part of a sequence that required multiple views of the same scene. To help stage the elements, I drew a crude plan on bristol, and sculpted the monster out of a kneaded eraser. You can see another angle here.

Down below, you can see some of the additional reference collected online, as well as the script and sketches used to plan out the page. The 3-issue series, written by Mike Mignola and Chris Roberson, is now available in trade.

  1. Great reference sheet Mr. Rivera. Your digital layout is very good. The digital inking is new for me, but not so different like the old one. Regards.

    1. I need less things, not more! (Although I always get envious of large studios will all manner of life-size props hanging about.)
