Drew, I'm pretty...Thanks for all the comments!

Drew, I'm pretty sure Marvel's doing just fine at the moment, financially. I think Disney came to them, in fact, so they just had to say yes or no. Then again, I only know what I've read in articles and such... they certainly don't keep us informed about that side of the business.Paolo Riverahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11088106827920011644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8959702978311327862.post-62336934203748762462009-09-08T21:10:56.942-07:002009-09-08T21:10:56.942-07:00I say good for Marvel! I believe Disney owns Miramax and they've pumped out some good stuff. :DUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06112553069097706728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8959702978311327862.post-37112991163447011442009-09-08T17:34:25.943-07:002009-09-08T17:34:25.943-07:00Thanks for posting your thoughts on this, Paolo. ...Thanks for posting your thoughts on this, Paolo. My more immediate thoughts were, incidentally, not about if Marvel was going to be changed at all, but "Man, how long does Universal have the Marvel area at Islands of Adventure now?"

Correct me if I'm wrong (and you probably are more familiar than I am,) but Marvel isn't hurting financially at the moment, right? I figured that it was definitely a calculated move for them to grow their Marvel Entertainment brand, and more importantly, their line of successful movies.

It definitely feels a lot like the Pixar buyout...nothing really changes, they just get even larger amounts of money to play with. Though I do have to wonder: How much longer does Boom Studios have the Disney contracts to produce their various comics? Something tells me once it comes time to renew they'll drop it to hand it off to Marvel...but then again, maybe they won't.Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18262476114387821096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8959702978311327862.post-72468147823136784482009-09-07T05:38:41.061-07:002009-09-07T05:38:41.061-07:00I'm not sure how extensive DC/Warner's cra...I'm not sure how extensive DC/Warner's crack down was several years back in artist alley etc but I know that they routinely had eBay cancel auctions featuring original art of some of their characters. It was obvious that certain specific character names were being watched ...Wonder Woman would be cancelled but not Amazon Princess or Wonderful Woman ;)Michael Dooneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00246162742705076367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8959702978311327862.post-82415351565352404472009-09-07T00:17:23.707-07:002009-09-07T00:17:23.707-07:00I too hope all goes well enough.
What you describ...I too hope all goes well enough.

What you described above, PR, reminds me of the RIAA suing fans a few years ago over illegally downloaded music. John Mayer and Chuck D. both kinda spoke out against the idea. I mean, Disney hemming up a little t-shirt shop over a Mickey tee is a little small minded when they're still making BILLIONS on the IP. That said, you're correct, it's their right to do so.

This acquisition stuff is all the rage now, anyways---if you can't beat 'em, buy 'em! The new market strategy, I suppose.SiDEBARhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10449939197402492045noreply@blogger.com
