CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER (detail). 2011.
Gouache, watercolor, and acrylic on illustration board, 16 × 24″.

Wacky Reference Wednesdays are back! You can see the complete art here. I'm still a bit under the gun with The Valiant, so I won't be doing the full process breakdown every week, but hopefully this will be enough on the entertainment front. Next week: me as Harry Potter... sort of.

  1. If this is a double post, I apologize. I don't think my previous comment went through. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for "Wacky Wednesday" post and it's funny that you posted one because I thought of it last night as I was taking photos of my hands in various positions.

I love how this piece is turning out and is a throwback to one of the most famous Cap covers. I also love the limited Zorn-esque color palette as it fits perfect for the look and feel of the 40s.

Great work man and I can't wait to see the rest. Oh.. and thanks for the inspiration.

    1. Thanks, Jason! Been meaning to get to WRWs for a while, but just haven't had the time. Hope to keep up with the schedule now. And yes, I had to start moderating comments... was getting too many spam comments on the most popular posts.
