Mythos: Captain America, Page 5, Panels 4-7. 2008.
Gouache and acrylic on bristol board, 11 x 17". Original Art

Marvel recently announced that Tommy Lee Jones has been cast as Colonel Phillips, the recruiter who convinces Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, to volunteer for the Super Soldier Project. I was happy to see that they used my artwork to accompany the article. I should note, however, that in our version Phillips was a 3-star general.

  1. I'm happy to hear that Tommy's gonna be in the film, he's always been one of my favorite actors. (I heard Hugo Weaving is gonna be the Red Skull, that sounds fun!) Sounds like the filmmakers might be drawing a lot of their imagery from your Capt, mythos paintings.

  2. Thanks, Maw!

Evan, I'm not sure how much the actual film makers were looking at my work (this was strictly a marvel.com press release), but you can bet I'll be keeping a close eye out when I see the movie. If they took anything from Mythos, I think the secret lab scene would probably translate best.
