Amazing Spider-Man #640, Cover (detail). 2010.
Watercolor and gouache on Illustration Board, 11 x 17".

While I can't divulge the story behind this, the third cover from One Moment in Time, I can show you the ridiculous photos I took of myself holding... myself. To my surprise, I didn't have to alter much to make my legs look like Mary Jane's—perhaps I could be a supermodel yet. You can see the entire image here.

  2. One thing that is extra funny is that you made the 'sad face' eventhough Spidey's mask covers his whole head. Kind of like the age old question about does the guy inside the Goofy costume at Disneyland smile when folks take his picture ;)

  3. Andrea, necessity is the mother of invention—I was the only one around!

Michael, I can't seem to help myself when it comes to hamming it up. Amd while I can't answer the "age-old question," I can say that said question has only been around since the 1970s. Maybe I should ask my 'rents (who both worked at Disney World when it first opened).

  4. Paolo, as you are "the only one around" during your photo shoots, do you find it difficult to line up your shots? Do you have a mirror behind your camera so you have a rough idea of the picture you're about to take? Also, if you're using the camera's timer are you often frustrated when a picture is taken and you wasn't quite ready?

  5. Actually, Cliff, if you look closely (and I mean ridiculously closely) you'll see that my jeans "change pocket" is on the "wrong" side. These photos are of my reflection in the mirror, which aids in getting things just right. That's the tripod leg in front of me, but the camera (which is pointed away from me) is out of frame.
