"Upstate"

Whenever someone says "Upstate New York," it usually means anywhere but New York City. But, to be more specific, I spent the better part of last week in Western New York, about an hour away from Buffalo. It was such a wonderful vacation that I thought I'd share some photos.

The first two photos are from Letchworth State Park, which is definitely worth a visit (or two — this was my second trip to the area, the first being 10 years ago, right after I graduated from high school).

— A catfish feeding frenzy at Moss Lake

— Blue poncho-wrapped tourists braving the mists of Niagara Falls

— Maid of the Mist, ready for a new load

— My first time on a prop plane — not exactly the fastest, but worth it for the finale: a low, slow loop around Manhattan

  2. Beautiful pics, Paolo! Did you catch any of those catfish? They make for good eating.

  3. Chris: that's great to hear! Have a wonderful time.

Christina: I didn't catch any of them (they were pretty small) but my friends saw a snapping turtle grab one!
