Mythos Maquettes

Sunday, September 21, 2008

If you've been following the Mythos series (and I know I have), you may recognize some familiar faces (and props) in these photos. As I've mentioned previously, I like to sculpt maquettes for the main characters of the stories I illustrate. I was finally prompted to photograph all of them together for the Mythos hardcover.

I ended up going with this black and white photo for the book.

  1. What a great/creepy image. All those heads facing the same direction, you should have them all reading a book, watching T.V., or reading the blog.

  2. Impressive.
I'd like very much to see a whole character, like magneto for example, or a johnny blaze/Ghost rider.

  3. If I ever find enough time, I'd love to do some more full figure sculptures. For the time being, I still have some old examples on my web-site.

    1. I did one Red Sonja figure back in 2004, and one Mystique half-figure before then. I love sculpting, but it's a lot of work (and a long time before it's reproduced, at least in my experience). I'm currently picking away at some full-figure digital maquettes, which is a lot faster.

Great seeing you at Baltimore. Glad you got to meet my Pops.
