Superior Spider-Man Team Up #1. 2013.
Ink(ed by Joe Rivera) on bristol board, 11 × 17″.

Avenging Spider-Man will be rebranded this July as Superior Spider-Man Team-Up, but I'll still be providing covers for the series. The first issue cover debuted last week on CBR. For some reason, I just wanted to draw everyone rappelling. No one stopped me, so there it is. But in case anyone misses the "old" Peter Parker Spider-Man, here's a commission from last year. I do miss drawing the eyes "my" way.

Spider-Man. 2012. Acryla Gouache on sketch cover, 7 × 10.5″.

    1. Thanks! I've got a variant cover coming up for DD #26, but that's all I've got planned for now. I'm not sure if I'm cut out for monthly work... I'm just too slow. I certainly won't rule out single issues or mini-series, though.

    That Spidey commission is awesome!

Do you have a set schedule for conventions yet?

    1. Thanks, Mike! I posted the official list a couple weeks back: http://paolorivera.blogspot.com/2013/03/3-past-midnight.html

Although my schedule will be undergoing some changes next month. I'll post an update once everything is sorted out.

  3. What should I say ?I love your covers, you are amazing!! I specially like the originality and the power in every of your compositions.
Do you want to know something? I like 'your way' to draw Spidey eyes more than 'normal' Spidey eyes. It's like 'your signature', 'your style print' when you draw the character if you know I want to say.
I'll miss your Daredevil pages but I can suppose to keep monthly deadlines has to be a hard work, particularly when you are working on several projects.
I think so we'll (fandom, comic-book readers ) enjoy your fantastics pages and covers if you can work taking your time, on your way, without short deadlines, more than another way.

    1. Thanks so much, Miguel! Those eyes are definitely the way I try to distinguish my Spidey from others. I actually sort of draw DD's eyes the same way... but it's less noticeable because there's so much shadow around them.

  4. I like so much your DD style, in fact, is my favorite DD style. Can I see in your way to draw DD, Colan, Romita Senior and Mazzucchelli influences? Well, in any case, I love it!!
I saw your The Walking Dead cover (fantastic work, congratulations!!) and I'd wish to see your art in the other more popular Kirkman's creation : INVINCIBLE!! ( one of my favorite superheroes comic ).
Robert!! If you can hear me, call Paolo please!! ;P
