Amazing Spider-Man #577 cover (detail)
2008
ink on bristol board
11 x 17"

Well, despite my best efforts to avoid Facebook and, therefore, having friends, an entrepreneurial spirit has decided to take matters into his own hands and create a Fans of Paolo Rivera Facebook page. It looks as though I have to stop wearing my favorite t-shirt.

Thanks for the support! Would it be weird if I joined?

  1. Yes, it would be. Facebook and "social networking" in general is the bane of modern society. Why would someone need to converse with their friends (real friends not just tons of acquaintances) on a website? What's wrong with doing it the old fashioned way?

Oh, but this blog is a different matter completely. It's impossible for someone like you to interact with their fanbase so...um, intimately. I think this blog is a great idea.

Okay, now post another shirtless pic, you hirsute hunk o' man! ;)

  2. Ha! Hirsute? Really?

Maybe for WRW #100. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

  3. Yeah. I reluctantly joined Facebook...just a handful of friends...one of whom de-friended me. I must be doing something right.

  4. Sam, I am waiting for the group "Enemies of Paolo Rivera." Give it time.

  5. Facebook is great for business, Paolo. There are many industry professionals/RISD grads on it.

It can be a time suck but you could pipe in your blog posts w/o actually having to be on it.

  6. Christina, I've definitely considered it before, but I don't think it'll happen any time soon. A blog fee would be a good approach, though.

  7. I meant "feed," not "fee." Though that's not a bad idea either. Ha!

  8. I'm pretty new to the whole facebook thing myself. I guess I caved in to social pressure. As a comic book fan it is a cool way to know what your favorite artist and writers are up to.

BTW..I am a member of the Paolo Rivera fan page.
